Introduction of rameshwaram
Rameshwaram is a island city that is located in the Southern region of India, between the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean and it is a magical mixture of its history and spirituality and the great beauty of nature. Not only it is a place of pilgrimage, but it is a living testimony to a thousand years old narrative where footprints of Ramchandra have inspired faith in the hearts of the people till date.

The Tale of Rameshwaram
Rameswaram is considered to be the worship place of Lord Rama who paid his obeisance to Lord Shiva before killing Ravana according to the mythology. Here he had created the Shiva Linga and had been blessed by lord shiva. Rameswaram name itself refers to Lord of Rama – who is Shiva himself. Here is the Ramanathaswamy Temple that is sacred to both Vaishnavites and Shaivites.
What is the mode of transportation to Rameshwaram?
By Air:
The Madurai international Airport is the nearest (about 170 km) and it would take 3-4 hrs drive.
By Rail:
The Indian Railways Rameswaram station connects it to most of the other major cities of India such as Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli. The city is also close to the railway station.
There exists National Highway NH-87 that connects Rameswaram with Madurai and other cities. The most astounding is the passage of the Pamban Bridge that handles the railways and road traffic since it crosses the Indian Ocean. What is amazing is the act of a drive on and over and across the bridge.
